Scale setup

For automated weighing, each factory's weighing-bay scale is configured and calibrated on the Scale setup screen.

Permission required: SCALE_READ (view), SCALE_CONFIG, SCALE_CALIBRATE.

The scale setup screen

Requirements

  • A Chromium browser (Chrome or Edge) on the weighing-bay computer — the Web Serial API isn't available in other browsers.
  • The scale connected by serial or USB.
  • The page served over HTTPS (which portal.cherryledger.co.ke is) or localhost.

Configuring the scale

  1. Open Scale setup for the factory.
  2. Set the serial port, baud rate (commonly 9600) and protocol preset.
  3. If the scale's output format is unusual, provide a parsing rule (regex) and a stable marker so CherryLedger knows when a weight has settled.
  4. Save.

Calibrating

Use the calibration view to watch the raw output from the scale and confirm CherryLedger reads a stable weight correctly before going live at the bay. Adjust the protocol/parsing until the parsed weight matches the scale display.

Unknown scale?

If you don't know your scale's settings, open calibration on-site, place a known weight, and adjust the baud rate and protocol until the reading matches. Record the working settings for future reference.
